The Texas NF Foundation has seen our NF Family Camp grow to its highest participation level ever in 2007. NF research continues to show incredible promise with clinical trials on the horizon. Several NF foundations from around the country are joining forces every year in Washington, D.C., to lobby Congress for continued research money. These joint efforts have proven successful with close to $185 million being invested in NF research over 10 years by our government and the Department of Defense.
The Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation fully intends to lead the nation in our efforts to offer support to NF patients, to fund critical research programs and to serve as an advocate for NF patients and families. We look forward to the day that we can announce to all our patients, “a cure for this disease is found!” This is why 2007 marked one of our most exciting announcements to date. The Texas NF Foundation has pledged $1,000,000 to UT Southwestern Medical Center, which will fund an NF Distinguished Chair at the medical center.
